Slow SMTP greeting
What it means
Some servers deliberately delay the banner to deter bots, but very long delays make legitimate senders time out.
How to fix it
- 1Keep any greeting delay under five seconds; check reverse DNS lookups on the server are not timing out.
Re-check after the change
DNS changes can take up to the record's TTL to be seen; use Re-run on the result page to bypass our 10-minute cache.
