Data sources and attributions
Where every piece of information on whois.me.uk comes from, and the terms that apply.

We do not hold a private database of domain owners. Every result is assembled live from the sources below, shown as they publish it.
Registration data
- Registries via RDAP — Nominet (.uk), Verisign (.com, .net), Public Interest Registry (.org) and every other registry listed in the IANA RDAP bootstrap file. Each registry's notices and terms of use are shown in the Source data drawer and apply to the data. Nominet's WHOIS service closes on 9 February 2027; .uk lookups here are RDAP-first.
- rdap.org — used only as a fallback redirector when a registry server is not known.
- Port-43 WHOIS — registry and registrar WHOIS servers, queried with low volume and shown verbatim for reference.
- IANA — RDAP bootstrap files and top-level domain data.
Networks
- Regional Internet Registries — ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC and AFRINIC via RDAP for address allocations and abuse contacts.
- Team Cymru — IP-to-ASN mapping via their public DNS service.
DNS
- Public and authoritative nameservers — records are fetched from the domain's own nameservers and from public resolvers (Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, Google 8.8.8.8) for validation flags. Our probe runs its own recursive resolver for blocklist and propagation queries.
- Public Suffix List (Mozilla, MPL 2.0) — used to split a name into its registrable domain and suffix.
Reputation
Blocklist lookups query each list's public DNS zone within the operator's free-use terms: Spamhaus (ZEN, DBL), SpamCop, Barracuda, PSBL, UCEPROTECT, Mailspike, DroneBL, s5h, 0spam, SpamRATS, InterServer, GBUdb, JustSpam, NordSpam, Fabel, SwiNOG, blocklist.de, manitu, WPBL, UnsubScore, Spam Eating Monkey, abuse.ro, Korea Services, RealtimeBlacklist, SURBL and URIBL. A listing shown here is the list operator's determination, not ours; use the delisting link provided by each operator.
Web and mail tests
HTTP, TLS, SMTP, ping and traceroute tests contact the target directly from our servers in the United Kingdom. They read banners and certificates and never send message content.
Trademarks
Registry, registrar, blocklist and service names are the trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify the source of data.
