DNS propagation checker
What 18 resolvers around the world answer right now, and whether they agree.
What this check does
After a DNS change, caches around the world expire at different times. This check asks a panel of public resolvers for the record and compares them with each other and with your authoritative nameserver.
- 18 public resolvers queried in parallel (8 for visitors)
- Agreement count and the majority answer
- The authoritative answer for comparison
- Per-resolver TTL and response time
- Any record type: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA, CAA, SRV, PTR
Questions
- How long does propagation take?
- Until the old TTL expires on each cache: if the old record had a 3,600-second TTL, up to an hour after the change. Lower the TTL a day before a planned change to shorten it.
